The DC Classical Chamber Music Players' Meetup group is a collection of classical musicians interested in playing chamber music for fun. While good music is the goal, the emphasis here is on fun and enjoyment! As of 1/29/12, we have 204 members, covering 14+ different instruments, at varying skill levels. This group is dedicated to vinyl records appreciation. The plan is to just bring in a variety of records then all meet up at a local bar that has agreed to let us play them. Viola! We all show up and get a drink at the bar and groove to some tunes and talk/share knowlege. I had originally planned for music of 60's/70's because that is what I know best. This meet up is to create a community band / orchestra (brass, woodwind, string). The ensemble will perform a variety of concert band repertoire that includes Marches, Show tunes, Classical and Contemporary music. Expect 4 or 5 performances each year.
